Maria Savva has the worst website that we have ever seen. Not much about her and her bio online.
From her horrible looking website we learn that :
Maria was born on 19th March 1970 in North London to Greek Cypriot parents. She studied Law at Middlesex University, and graduated in 1992.
She went on to train at the College of Law and became a Solicitor in 1996. Maria still works as a Solicitor, now specialising in Conveyancing. She currently lives in Hertfordshire.
Maria’s first novel ‘Coincidences’, a story about Alice, a young girl looking for her father, was published in 2001.
About Maris Savva book : ‘Coincidences’
The people in Alice’s life have never let her down. Her relationship with her mother, Stephanie, is one of enormous closeness. Her friends and colleagues are loyal, and Andrew, a fellow student, has his eye on Alice which could mean the promise of a blossoming romance.
All is well until she wakes suddenly one night, and, by chance, notices the time on her clock. Then a news report, a chance sighting, and a name that means more to her than she knows, provoke her into trying to find her father.
Roger left home when Alice was two, leaving her an only child, and her mother to cope on her own. Since then, she has heard nothing. All that is about to change as she jeopardises her relationships with her secretive mother and the gorgeous Andrew and begins the hunt for the truth which has been denied her.
With compulsion, sensitivity and authority, Coincidences affirms the importance of true selfknowledge, and the courage needed to find it
Extract from ‘Coincidences’:
‘Alice wished that she had never thought about looking for her father. Her life had been so much easier before. She had opened a door into a world which had been left abandoned for years. There were secrets, dark shadows and uncertainties behind the door. Alice was gripped by fear. She knew she could not go back now. She needed to find out about her father. It had changed from a want to a need. She would have to face her fears.’

I’m quite disturbed at your posting above about upcoming author Maria Savva’s website. I find nothing at all wrong with her site or how she’s conveying her background to potential readers.
I recently interviewed bestselling novelist, Lenora Worth. Her website says very little about her “background”, yet she’s a bestselling author for Steeple Hill Love Inspired.
There is a fine line between a “reviewer” and a “critic”. I feel, as a reviewer, you have stepped over the line here and you should remove your posting and apologize to Maria Savva.
Your tagline says “book and author reviews”. I don’t feel you’ve expressed a review of the author or her book here at all.

I think Maria Savva’s website is one of the most classical and thinkable ones. I do not see any problem relating to it!!!!

So easy to criticise other people and their work…and in my experience it’s only those who are insecure and unsuccessful who do this. Educated people try to find constructive things to say.
So what do I have to say about your comments? Ugly…but maybe with a little experience and education you could appreciate how far kindness goes in the world…

I just think this is kind of cruel. This is not the WORST website I have seen; perhaps you haven’t looked at too many. It seems that this blog here is just designed to hurt someone’s feelings. I’m not looking at the world through rose-coloured glasses, trust me, but what’s the point on this, really?

A Kool sounding book I wish you every success.

Is it possible that you have only seen the bio page of the Website and not the whole site? You may have clicked on a link from a search engine which took you only to the bio page? The whole site is actually designed around the book cover for my latest novel ‘A Time to Tell’ and personally I like the design. The site was designed by a professional website designer and I’m very pleased with the results. It contains all the information which potential readers of my books would need. I’m sorry you don’t like it, but you can’t please everyone 🙂

Hi Maria thanks for your reply, I didn’t mean to offend you. I love books and the net. Your site has been designed by someone that doesn’t know anything about usability. Site uses frames that aren’t going to be crawled by Search engine spiders very well. As matter of fact http://www.mariasavva.co.uk/ comes before your site as it has been done by someone with a better web knowledge.
Sorry but I still dislike your site very much and I am sure I am not the only one.

I do not profess to have any knowledge of fashion websites, I suppose that is what people want. It does not look anything exceptional or awful to me. Sorry I do not feel qualified to answer.

Well, I don’t know anything about the intricacies of web-design, myself, but I still like my website 🙂

It is great as a fashion website.
What has literature to do with it?

This is the most offensive and unnecessary review ever – totally destructive and pointless. I agree with the comments above from Cindy Bauer.
Glad to see some sort of apology at causing offence above, but not really enough.
And – if you see this Maria –
from one author to another, the book ‘Time to Tell” is superb.

I agree with Cindy Bauer & Helen B, I find this totally destructive and pointless. It’s not a review of the author or her works at all.
It did however, make me visit the site out of curiosity which is a good thing as I am now enjoying the book ‘Time to Tell” very much.
I didn’t find the site unhelpful, quite the contrary. So for me, someone who only uses websites get information this site did the job just fine. So what was the point of reviewing this site in such a negative sense?
Maria Savva is an author, not a web designer. I’d like to hear more about the work and less about the shop selling it.
To Maria Savva, looking forward to more of your work.

Frankman’s first sentence leads me to two possible conclusions:
1) He really doesn’t get out on the web much;
2) He hasn’t looked up ‘worst’ or ‘ever’ in the dictionary lately.
Either of these would lead me to question his ability to effectively review websites about writing.
At least try to be constructive next time Frankman – it might make you feel better.

Thanks for your lovely comments! I will write another post on Maria Savva and her ugly site explaining why the site is ugly and how to improve it.
I will take screen grabs and compare the ugly site with other better looking ones.
Watch the space and thanks for your feedback.

I think that frankpublisher’s opinion of Maria Savva’s website is entirely personal and far too bluntly put. I am puzzled as to why a criticism of a website’s design should appear on a book and author review page. The book hasn’t been reviewed at all, the ‘reviewer’ simply outlining the plot instead. For me, this review simply has no credibility or objectivity. ‘Ugly’ is a subjective word and without adequate explanation as to why it has been used in this context is nothing but just plain rude.

Frankpublisher, I would really much rather you didn’t write any more blogs about me or my website. I didn’t give you the copyright permission to copy a whole page from my website in the first place, and please note that I’m not giving you permission to copy any other part of the site just to explain why you think it’s ugly. As I have already stated, I’m quite happy with my current website and won’t be changing it, so there would really be no point to you posting another blog.
